Nurturing values such as honesty and respect empower children to become compassionate individuals. Through teaching and modelling at home and at school, pupils can learn to navigate moral dilemmas and make correct choices. NIA Smash are in the early stages of providing the explicit teaching of Character Education, intentional and discrete lessons that aim to develop personal growth and foster traits like integrity, empathy, and resilience. We aim to equip our pupils with the essential skills needed to thrive academically, personally and socially. Character Education champions have led the way, with focus classes in taking part in Character Education lessons since January. Pupils have been extremely positive about their learning and we are excited to soon be providing the same experience to all pupils in EYFS and Primary. Character Education will be developed in KS3 as part of form time, assemblies and expectations within lessons.
