I highly recommend Roald Dahl’s The BFG. It is a fantastic tool for teaching children about creative language. The giant speaks in ‘gobblefunk’—words like snozzcumbers and frobscottle—which helps kids get excited about how words are made. Plus, the relationship between Sophie and the giant is a beautiful story about friendship and bravery.
