I chose Matilda because it shows how a love of books and learning can help a child overcome challenges. I especially like how Matilda uses her intelligence and kindness to stand up for herself and others, and how reading becomes her escape and source of strength. The story is funny, inspiring, and reminds students that being different and loving books is something to be proud of.
