James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl is a classic children’s story that combines imagination, adventure, and important life lessons. A book that I simply loved reading. It follows James, a lonely boy who escapes his unhappy life by travelling inside a magical giant peach with a group of friendly insects. The book is perfect for KS2 because it explores themes such as resilience, friendship, courage, and overcoming adversity in an engaging and age-appropriate way. Through its creative storytelling and memorable characters, the story encourages empathy, problem-solving, and emotional understanding while also developing children’s love for reading and imaginative thinking.
