 I chose ‘Goodnight Mr. Tom, by Michelle Magorian, as one of my all-time favourite novels.

I read this book many times as a child, and was always inspired by the characters and the setting.

I have since loved reading it to hundreds of my pupils as a class teacher throughout my career. I really hope that, like me, the story inspired them to never give up, work hard through life’s challenges and to learn that good things happen to good people. ‘Goodnight, Mr Tom’ is a story of true inspiration that warms my heart every time and I have LOVED re-reading after many years.
