What is Model United Nations (MUN)?
Model United Nations (MUN) is an exciting academic activity where students represent countries and debate global issues in a simulated United Nations setting. Through research, public speaking, teamwork, and problem-solving, students develop confidence, leadership skills, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. MUN provides a supportive environment where students learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and become active global citizens.
Every year, Newton International Academy proudly hosts NIA MUN, providing students with an exceptional platform to develop leadership, diplomacy, public speaking, and critical thinking skills while engaging with global issues.
During the 2025–2026 academic year, NIA MUN was an exciting and inspiring event that brought together more than 275 students from 11 schools. Under the theme, “Advocates for Nature: Environmental Sustainability and Resilience in the Age of AI,” delegates explored how innovation, responsibility, and international cooperation can be harnessed to address some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Through thoughtful debate, collaboration, and resolution writing, students demonstrated a strong commitment to creating sustainable solutions and becoming active global citizens.
