SUMMARY:Anything but a Plant Pot Day 🪴
DESCRIPTION:What a fantastic way to celebrate Sustainability Week at Newton D Ring! \nToday our students got creative and gave everyday containers a new life — planting seeds in yoghurt pots\, tins\, bottles\, and boxes instead of traditional plant pots. 🌱 From colourful designs to thoughtful re-use of materials\, it was wonderful to see our learners showing how small actions can make a big difference to our planet. \nA huge thank-you to everyone who brought in recycled containers\, supported the children\, and helped turn simple materials into something beautiful and sustainable.

SUMMARY:Learning Beyond the Classroom
DESCRIPTION:“Travelling – it leaves you speechless\, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta. \nInspired by these words\, our Year 8 students visited the exhibition ‘MIA Travelers – In the Steps of Ibn Battuta\, from North Africa through Arabia and Beyond’ at the Museum of Islamic Art. The boys attended on 30th September and the girls on 2nd October. The exhibition allowed students to retrace the legendary explorer’s footsteps across continents\, discovering how his journeys connected cultures and enriched knowledge. \nThey took part in engaging activities that encouraged them to reflect on the values of curiosity\, resilience\, and exploration\, while also gaining a deeper appreciation of history and culture. The visit tied beautifully with Qatar’s vision of preserving heritage and inspiring young people to learn from the past. Students returned not only with knowledge but also with enthusiasm\, eager to share their experiences and continue their own journeys of discovery.

SUMMARY:Planting Season
DESCRIPTION:As the weather begins to cool\, it’s the perfect time to get our school garden ready for a new growing season! \nIt’s been a real team effort across the school this week. Our KS3 students took on the heavy lifting — replenishing soil and pots — while KS1 helped mix the new and old soil\, ensuring it was rich and ready for growth. Years 3 and 4 made sure everything was well watered and full of moisture to prepare for planting\, and Years 5 and 6 assessed the plants still thriving from last year before preparing new pots for the next round of seedlings. \nOur garden is truly a place of collaboration and care\, and it’s wonderful to see how busy and full of enthusiasm our students are during break times\, each year eager to get their hands dirty and watch their efforts grow.

SUMMARY:trip to the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum
DESCRIPTION:Our Year 7 students enjoyed an exciting educational trip to the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum in Al Shahaniya. The visit gave students a fascinating insight into Qatar’s rich heritage\, culture\, and traditions through one of the largest private collections in the world. \nStudents explored a wide range of exhibits\, from ancient Islamic art and traditional Qatari artefacts to vintage cars\, coins\, and textiles. The tour helped them make real-life connections. \nThroughout the visit\, students were encouraged to ask questions\, make observations\, and reflect on how Qatar has evolved from its early Bedouin roots to the modern nation it is today. Many were amazed by how Sheikh Faisal personally collected items from over 50 countries\, highlighting the global connections between cultures and time periods. \nThe day ended with a group reflection\, where students shared their favourite exhibits from the vintage car gallery to the traditional majlis and pearl diving displays. The museum staff praised our Year 7 students for their curiosity\, respectful behaviour\, and enthusiasm throughout the visit.

SUMMARY:Staff Bake Sale
DESCRIPTION:Our Wellbeing Committee is proudly collaborating with RedEarth Education\, an NGO based in Uganda\, on a project aimed at engaging girls in mathematics. This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting global causes that promote equity and access in education. \nTo raise funds for this worthy cause\, our staff have organised a series of fun staff events — starting this week with a charity bake sale! The fair showcased globally recognised programmes in fields such as engineering\, medicine\, business\, and technology\, reflecting Malaysia’s growing reputation as a regional education hub. Students discovered the benefits of studying in a multicultural\, English-speaking environment with strong academic standards\, modern facilities\, and affordable tuition fees. SUMMARY:STEM Week
DESCRIPTION:STEM Week was an exciting celebration of innovation\, problem-solving\, and creativity. Students took part in a thrilling Egg Drop Challenge\, applying principles of physics and engineering to design protective structures that kept their eggs intact — a fun and practical test of scientific thinking and teamwork. In Maths in the Real World\, learners explored how mathematics connects to everyday life\, from budgeting and architecture to sports and design\, deepening their appreciation for its relevance beyond the classroom. Meanwhile\, our 3D Printing Workshops introduced students to cutting-edge technology\, allowing them to transform digital designs into tangible models and inspiring future innovators.

Students and staff came together with creativity and enthusiasm to organise engaging events that raised both awareness and funds for meaningful causes. From bake sales to sponsored challenges\, every activity demonstrated a shared commitment to making a difference. The teamwork\, leadership\, and empathy shown throughout the week exemplify our school’s values in action. Beyond the funds raised\, Charity Week inspired a sense of purpose and reminded us all of the power of collective effort in creating positive change. Our Student Council and Charity Week representatives raised around 24\,000 AED for charities.
